What is FIRST®?

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a worldwide organization consisting of four levels:

  • FIRST® Lego League Jr. (FLL Jr., grades 1-3)
  • FIRST® Lego League (FLL, grades 4-8)
  • FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC, grades 7-12)
  • FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC, grades 9-12)

When you participate in FIRST®, a world of opportunities opens. There are endless possibilities to learn and grow your STEM, business, and technical knowledge. There will be successes and failures as you work with a team to create robots that can lift, climb, throw, and carry, as well as create a business plan, and work within the local, national, and even international community to increase the awareness of STEM careers.
